PDU Receives President’s Award for Government Communications

The Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU) has been honoured by the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communications (ZIPRC) for its work in enhancing strategic government communications.

PDU Communications and Outreach Lead Besa Kyanamina was presented with the President’s Award at ZIPRC’s annual gala dinner at the Avani Victoria Hotel in Livingstone on Friday 22 March. The industry body praised the PDU’s work in implementing a government communications framework for the enhanced productivity of PR professionals.

It followed ZIPRC’s annual general meeting on Tuesday, at which Ms Kyanamina gave a speech on behalf of PDU Head Kusobile Kamwambi about the importance of transparent and effective government communications. In it, she highlighted President Hichilema’s support for PR professionals through the ZIPR Act and introducing effective communications as a key performance indicator (KPI) for government ministries.

“As a department we are honoured to have been recognised by the ZIPRC with this award. It is a testament to the hard work of everyone at the PDU and reinforces the importance of government communications as a presidential priority,” Ms Kyanamina said.

The PDU works hand in hand with government ministries to streamline communications and ensure that Zambian citizens understand the ways in which their government is working to deliver for them.
