Ndola-Sakania-Mufulira Road Project Takes Shape
In the heart of the Copperbelt Province, a transformative initiative is reshaping the nation’s infrastructure landscape and unlocking opportunities for trade and economic growth. The ongoing rehabilitation works on the Ndola-Sakania-Mufulira Road, spanning 55 kilometers, stand as a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and foresight.
Through a trailblazing Public Private Partnership (PPP) financing model, the Government of Zambia through the Road Development Agency (RDA) has joined forces with Messrs. Jaswin Ports Limited, to bring this vision to life. The project encompasses the finance, design, build, operation, maintenance, and eventual transfer of the road, as well as the enhancement of border infrastructure at Sakania—a critical gateway for regional trade.
This undertaking is already yielding results. As of now, progress has been recorded, with significant milestones achieved. Once completed, this rehabilitated road will not only ensure smoother connectivity within the province but also strengthen Zambia’s role as a vital trade hub for neighboring countries. The improved border infrastructure at Sakania is expected to streamline customs processes, reduce transit times, and enhance the overall efficiency of cross-border trade.
For the communities along the Ndola-Sakania-Mufulira corridor, the project represents more than just improved infrastructure. It is a lifeline that will foster economic activity, create jobs, and elevate living standards. The ripple effects of this development will extend far beyond the Copperbelt, contributing to Zambia's broader goals of economic diversification and regional integration.
As the rainy season gives way to drier months, even greater progress is on the horizon. The Ndola-Sakania-Mufulira Road project is not just about connecting points on a map—it’s about connecting people, opportunities, and a nation to its full potential.
